Sharjah Ruler donates rare documents to Cairo institution
The Ruler of Sharjah, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed, has donated more than 4,000 rare manuscripts, maps and books to the Egyptian Scientific Academy in Cairo.
He announced the plans in December after the building was partially destroyed by fire during riots.
Some of the titles were revealed yesterday at the Sharjah International Book Fair, where the collection was being showcased.
Among the documents is a copy of Description de l'Egypte, a series about a French expedition to Egypt published between 1809 and 1822.
