Sharjah-bound Air India flight makes emergency landing

An Air India flight from Kerala to Sharjah made an emergency landing immediately after take-off on Thursday because of a mechanical issue, according to news reports.

The landing took place about 11am at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, and none of the 175 passengers or crew on board were injured.

Travellers were transferred to another Air India flight after a three-hour delay. Express News Service said the pilot was forced to jettison some fuel into the sea after noticing a technical difficulty with the aeroplane's equipment.
