'Safe breaker' tried to smuggle stolen jewellery

A Pakistani man who broke into a house safe and stole gold jewellery has been arrested, Sharjah police said.

A taskforce of CID officers was formed after police received a report of a house burglary in which a saw was used to open an iron safe containing jewellery.

During their investigations officers discovered the suspect was trying to smuggle an amount of suspected stolen jewellery out of the country.

During interrogation the suspect confessed, and said he had the help of two accomplices who left the country. The man was referred to Public Prosecution in Sharjah.
