Runners to race for Terry in RAK

The Terry Fox 2013 race in Ras al Khaimah will be held on Friday.

Under the patronage of Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, ruler of Ras al-Khaimah and Supreme Council member, participants will gather in the emirate for the annual run to raise funds for cancer research.

The charity race continues the legacy of Canadian cancer victim, Terry Fox, who tried to finish an 8,000km trek with a prosthetic right leg after losing his limb to osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in 1977 when he was 18.

Canadian ambassador to the UAE, Arif Z. Lalani, will take part in the fundraiser.

The first time the event was held in Ras al Khaimah was on March 5, 2010.
