ABU DHABI // About 60 events are being organised to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the founding of the UAE. The programme, which includes the launching of a website and the creation of a special emblem, is being run by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development and other state organisations. An official website (www.nationalday.ae) containing information on the history of the UAE and of the leading figures in its foundation is being launched in November. Officials selected the website content from one of seven submissions.
Events to mark the 38th National Day on December 2 will detail the "history, culture, spirit and achievements of the federation", according to a statement from WAM, the state news agency. They are being organised by the ministry's Higher Committee for Celebrations. The committee recently approved an emblem for the celebrations chosen from five entries, which had been shortlisted from 50 designs submitted by companies and university students. The UAE also plans to invite overseas media to the country to interview senior officials and learn about the country's progress since it was founded on December 2, 1971, WAM said.
