Popular Al Ain pond closed after two drownings

A popular Al Ain beauty spot is to be fenced off from the public after two people drowned there in the past year.

The decision was made during a meeting at Al Ain police headquarters about minimising the dangers of rising water levels in Al Qusais pond.

Reinforced concrete barriers and warning signs will be placed along the road leading to the pond to prevent motorists from driving into the water.

Mohammed Al Harassi, director of the projects department at Abu Dhabi Sewage Service Company, said Al Qusais pond was free of any organic substances found in sewage water.
