Police seize 10kg of cocaine

DUBAI // Police have seized nearly 10 kilograms of cocaine being smuggled out of the emirate.

Three women, all coming from the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on different dates, stopped at Dubai International Airport while trafficking the drug to other countries.

RS, a 28-year-old African, was found carrying 6.37kg of cocaine in her handbag in March.

Dubai Police's information led to her arrest at an airport in Morocco. The drug was found in 63 compartments in her bag.

A few days later, police provided "vital information" that led to the arrest of SP, 25, an African travelling to Cape Town. She had swallowed a capsule containing 400 grams of cocaine.

On April 4, officers in Dubai tipped off Accra airport in Ghana, which led to the arrest of FO, 37, a European of Arab origin. She was carrying 2.7kg of cocaine.

Dubai's anti-narcotics unit received thank-you notes from the French Embassy and the British Consulate for its cooperation.
