Police find illegal immigrant inside Sharjah shop 'stealing phones'

A Sri Lankan man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a shop in Sharjah and trying to steal mobile phones.

According to a police spokesman, the shop's Moroccan owner called the operations room to report a break-in.

When officers arrived at the store in Al Qassimiya they found the Sri Lankan man walking around inside carrying a bag.

He was arrested and when officers searched his bag they found phones and other goods. Police said he was living in the country illegally.

He has been referred to prosecutors.
