Passenger who swallowed cocaine capsules arrested at Dubai airport

DUBAI // A man who swallowed 83 capsules of cocaine as part of a smuggling attempt has been arrested at Dubai airport.

Ali Al Maqhawi, director of Airport Operations at Dubai Customs, told The National’s sister newspaper Al Ittihad that the passenger aroused suspicion because he looked ill and nervous when he arrived in Dubai from an African country.

When customs officers didn’t find any illegal substances in the passenger’s luggage, they used a body scan and discovered capsules in his stomach. The officers later recovered 1.6 kilograms of cocaine.
