Official calls for Iran to settle dispute

Iran should respond to the UAE's call to find a solution regarding the three disputed islands or face the International Court of Justice, the assistant foreign minister for political affairs said at the Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting held in Egypt.

Dr Tariq Ahmed Al Haydan "underscored that the UAE had exerted efforts to have the issue settled amicably in assertion of the historic ties and good neighbourliness with Iran," Wam reports.

The diplomatic row began after a visit last month by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to the island of Abu Musa.
