New port on Abu Dhabi's Delma Island receives funding

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council approved funds for designing and constructing a new port on Delma Island yesterday, according to state news agency Wam.

The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Cultural Authority (TCA) and member of the Executive Council.

The project aims to promote tourism to the island.

It will feature a 300-meter concrete wharf for heavy loads, floating docks for more than 280 boats, as well as buildings and terminals for fishermen, sea sports, passenger ships and services.
