New-born baby abandoned in Khor Kalba

SHARJAH // A newborn girl has been found abandoned in the village of Khor Kalba. The child, believed to be only 12 hours old, was discovered on Friday lying in a bag outside a house. The house owner alerted police and the baby was taken to Kalba Hospital, where she was described as healthy. Col Mohammed al Abdooli, spokesman for Kalba Police, said: "We are already working with Sharjah's main police department to find the parents. The baby will be transferred to one of the childcare centres in Sharjah, after approval of the doctors."

The discovery of the baby came 24 hours after police in Ajman began a search for the parents of an abandoned one-month-old girl found in a box near a mosque. Anyone with information about either of the babies is asked to contact police.
