Men stole more than half a million dirhams of cables, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A driver and a warehouse security guard stole electric cables worth more than half a million dirhams, a court heard today.

Employees at the warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area noticed the cables, worth Dh641,000, were missing while checking stock during September of last year.

"We checked with [the driver] since he was responsible for stocking the cables, he confessed to stealing them," said SG, 23, an administrator at the company. He said the driver then told him the security guard had helped him carry out the theft.

At the Criminal Court the guard KS, 32, denied a charge of theft while the driver SJ, 23, confessed.

A verdict is expected on January 27.
