Man caught speeding by Dubai police admits to murder

DUBAI // A driver stopped by police for speeding admitted to murder, officers said yesterday.

The blood-covered man was arrested by a patrol from the crime prevention department at about 4am yesterday.

"The patrol stopped the car and found a young man stained with blood," said Brig Al Mansouri. "Upon questioning, the driver admitted he had killed a man."

The driver was a 20-year-old Afghan who has been living in the UAE illegally.

He said he killed the Iraqi owner of the shop at which he worked because he tried to sexually harass him.

The driver took officers to the shop in International City, where the man's dead body was found.

Brig Al Mansouri said investigations were continuing.
