DUBAI // A man was found carrying more than seven kilogrammes of cocaine inside a false-bottomed suitcase at Dubai International Airport.
Officers arrested the Turkish national, who was travelling from Brazil to an unnamed Arab country via Dubai, following a tip-off.
"He was searched first but he did not have any drugs on him," said Major General Abdul Al Jaleel Al Mahdi, head of the anti-narcotic department.
However, after x-raying the man's luggage police noticed it became suspiciously thick in parts.
Upon inspection officers found a secret pocket in which the man had hidden seven bags of cocaine, weighing a total of 7.1kgs. The drug was kept inside a number of plastic bags and had been mixed with coffee in an attempt to conceal it.
Police did not reveal the date of the arrest.
The man was referred to the public prosecution.
