Maid stole jewellery and Dh250,000 from employer, Abu Dhabi court hears
A maid broke a CCTV camera in her employer's bedroom before stealing Dh250,000 and two gold necklaces, the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard yesterday. J F, from Sri Lanka, fled the home two hours later, prosecutors said.
Her employer became suspicious when she saw the maid leaving and asked where she was going. The maid told her she was taking out the rubbish but her employer noticed she was acting "nervously".
The maid denied stealing the necklaces and breaking the CCTV camera in court but admitted stealing some money.
A verdict is expected today.
