ABU DHABI // Sheikh Khalifa, President of the UAE, and the Lebanese president Michel Suleiman met yesterday to discuss the need for Arab solidarity if disputes over the Palestinian Territories are to be resolved. The two leaders met at Al Mushrif Palace in the capital on the first day of Mr Suleiman's two-day visit to the UAE. In a statement issued by the state news agency, WAM, the two leaders said they had reiterated the significance of the Middle East peace process and moves by Arab nations and the international community to establish a Palestinian state and achieve peace in the region.
The two leaders also oversaw the signing of an agreement setting up a joint committee and executive protocol on tourism. The agreements were signed by senior ministers from both countries. Later in the day, Sheikh Khalifa held a banquet in honour of the Lebanese president and his delegation. Also yesterday, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister, met his Lebanese counterpart, Fawzi Salloukh, WAM reported.
