DUBAI // A bus crashed into a barrier, spilling cleaning products across Sheikh Zayed Road and causing two further accidents.
The accident occurred at 10am yesterday opposite Gate 7 of Jebel Ali Free Zone, and traffic was tailed back for around an hour and a half as several lanes were closed while a clean-up operation was underway.
The problem started when a minibus hit a crash barrier, spilling cleaning products across several lanes.
“The liquid caused the road to be slippery, and another minibus skidded and turned over next to the first bus,” a spokesman for Dubai Police said.
He added that the driver of the second bus had serious injuries and was taken to Rashid Hospital. Two other passengers in the bus sustained less severe injuries.
Before police arrived to close the affected lanes, another car skidded on the cleaning products and crashed. However the female driver was unhurt.
