Hunger striker Zack Shahin released from Dubai prison

DUBAI // Zack Shahin, the former Deyaar chief executive who is charged with misusing his powers and approving bids in return for millions of dirhams, was released from jail after a court granted him bail.

Yousuf Al Mutawa, Dubai Public Prosecution’s First General Prosecutor, said the release order was issued last Thursday after a request put forward by his lawyers because of his poor health condition.

Mr Al Mutawa said he was not sure whether Zack was released on Thursday itself or later.

“Usually the detainee gets released on the same day of the order,” he said.

The conditions set for Mr Shahin’s bail included providing a Dh5 million guarantee, and the submission of his passport and that of his sponsor.
