Houston shooting victim 'stood by father to very end'

HOUSTON //A man remains at large in Texas as a second suspect in the murder of an Emirati army officer had a court appearance delayed yesterday.

Detone Lewayne Price, 18, was due to appear yesterday at the district criminal court in Houston for an appearance over his alleged part in the murder of Salem Saif Al Mazroui last Sunday.

But Mr Price had yet to find a lawyer, said Kelli Johnson, the chief prosecutor, and the preliminary appearance beforeJudge David Mendoza was delayed.

The trial proper is not expected to start for a month.

Mr Price was arrested on Wednesday, while Corey Trevon Perry, 17, is still at large.

Ms Johnson yesterday paid tribute to Mr Al Mazroui's courage, saying people often talk about taking a bullet for those they love. "This man did just that … he stood by his father to the very end," she said.
