Helicopter used in two mercy errands

ABU DHABI // The police air ambulance rushed a critically ill baby from Al Ain to the capital in one of two emergency call-outs yesterday. The six-week-old girl required emergency treatment for kidney failure, breathing complications and blood poisoning, according to the Ministry of Interior. She was kept on a special ventilator during the flight from Tawam Hospital in Al Ain to the emergency wing at the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in the capital.

The baby was given immediate care and was later said to be recovering. In a separate case, a British man was flown to Al Rahba Hospital after being involved in car crash in Saih As Sidairah on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai road. There was no further information on his condition. The helicopter landed on the road after the area was cleared. rghazal@thenational.ae
