DUBAI // Heavy snow in Europe has forced the cancellation of one Emirates flight and diverted another as airports struggled to cope with the wintry conditions.
Emirates grounded flight EK71/72 between Dubai International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport today.
Passengers were being allocated seats on later flights.
Flight EK29/30, which was due to travel to and from London Heathrow, was re-routed to London Gatwick because of the conditions.
"Emirates is closely monitoring the weather situation in the United Kingdom and Europe and the impact it will have over the next 24 hours," the airline said.
"Both London Heathrow and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris have issued compulsory capacity restrictions."
Up to 6 centimetres of snow was forecast to fall yesterday, making visibility difficult.
About a fifth of all flights to and from Heathrow were scrapped. More than 100 flights were cancelled on Saturday.
Etihad said all its flights were currently operating to schedule.
