Harry Harling death inquiry kept private

DUBAI // The findings of an inquiry into the death of a British teenager are being kept confidential at the request of his family.

Harry Harling, 15, a Year 11 pupil at Jumeirah College, fell from the 11th floor of a building at the weekend.

He went to the building, which was under construction, after attending a party on Friday night at which there was "light drinking", according to Dubai Police.

Officials would not share any details of the inquiry into his death.

"The investigation is over but we are not going to announce anything because the family does not want it," said a CID official.

Harry's family yesterday said they were still seeking answers about the cause of his death.

"This is an extremely tragic and difficult time for our family," read a statement from the Harlings, issued by the British Embassy in Dubai.

"We are grateful for the support we have received already from many people but would like to ask all to respect our privacy as we learn more about the circumstances of Harry's death, grieve and come to terms with the loss of a wonderful son and brother."

The British Embassy would not release any further information.

Fiona Cottam, chief executive of Jumeirah College, said: "We are dealing with and supporting our young people at the moment. We need to make sure they are fine and that is the priority."
