GCC backs UAE against conspiracy targeting its national security
GCC Secretary General Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has affirmed the group's "full support" for the UAE against any plot targeting its security and stability, according to the state news agency, Wam.
"Security of the GCC member states is integral" he said. He lauded the "high efficiency and vigilance" of the UAE's security agencies for discovering what was described as a terror cell plotting to undermine UAE security.
The lawyer and rights activist Mohamed Al Roken was detained this week, along with his son and brother-in-law, after an investigation was announced. Eleven other Emiratis are also believed to have been arrested.
