Fujairah shuts down 9 beauty salons for hygiene violations
Fujairah has shut down nine beauty salons, fined 120 and issued warnings to 240 for hygiene violations and overcharging customers.
The director of legal affairs and consumer protection department in Fujairah Municipality, Abdullah Khalaf Al Aqrabi, said 461 salons were in operation in the emirate - 269 for men and 192 for women - when an audit was carried out in December.
He said his department was particularly keen on ensuring that salons kept to the municipality guidelines for prices as residents had complained that many were taking advantage of special occasions to hike their prices by over 40 per cent.
