Flooded roads near the Dubai Investment Park in Dubai.

Floods cut off part of Dubai business park

DUBAI // Flooding in Dubai Investments Park Two caused major tailbacks and left businesses cut off yesterday evening.

Traffic was backed up during rush hour while the building's security closed off several roads leading to the area. The flooding began about 2.30pm and was believed to be caused by a burst pipe, said Kristina Romanova, the operations manager of Paws Pet Planet.

The road behind the dog training centre was under several feet of water, forcing many owners to leave their dogs to spend the night in the kennels.

"It has not reached our place at all and it is only on the main road. We have one exit and that is blocked," she said. "The water has hit a construction site behind us but the sand is soaking it up.

"The cars are not able to drive through. Some say there is way through the sand in a 4x4 but it is quite dangerous."
