Flooding blocks roads near Discovery Gardens

DUBAI // Roads leading out of Discovery Gardens were blocked this morning because of a flood near the Nakheel Harbour and Tower Metro Station, commuters say.

The water from the construction site near the station began flowing onto the roads at around 8am, causing traffic congestion.

"Road from Discovery Gardens to JLT (Jumeirah Lake Towers) is closed, and Nakheel Harbour Metro Station access is closed," wrote Sultan Tarabeine on Twitter.

Marijke Fox, another Twitter user who posted pictures of the knee-deep flood, said the slip roads were blocked. "It was flowing onto the roads where you turn left onto Sheikh Zayed Road from Discovery (Gardens)," she said.

"The exit to the station was closed and the water was flooding on the road."

Commuters said traffic was being diverted.

Police and RTA are yet to comment on the cause of the flood.
