Fire-safety advice issued to Al Ain desert campers by Civil Defence

Desert campers are being offered advice on how to avoid starting fires by Al Ain Civil Defence.

People are urged to allow a safe distance between air-conditioning units in their tents and power generators, while tents should be made of non-flammable materials, said Col Rashed Humr Ain Al Darmaki, Civil Defence director.

All electrical wirings should be insulated, while tents should be free of flammable liquids or materials. Fire extinguishers should be within reach of tent exits.

Campers are banned from carrying butane gas cylinders.
