Fewer drivers jumping red traffic lights in Al Ain, police say

The number of accidents caused by motorists driving through red lights in Al Ain fell during the first nine months of this year. There were 10 such accidents - leading to one death - compared with 16 in the same period last year.

"The police command is intent on raising safety standards on the roads … through installing more monitoring devices on intersections to bring down [traffic light] violations," Maj Mohsen Saeed Al Mansouri, head of Al Ain's traffic and patrols section, told The National's Arabic-language sister paper, Al Ittihad, this week.
