Fans look forward to world sporting events on UAE soil

Golf fans are looking forward to the world No 1 Rory McIlroy teeing his season off against Tiger Woods at the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championships this month.

The F1 circus will roll into the capital in November with Sebastian Vettel as the current champion.

Sports on the rise and expected to make a bigger impact on the local scene are falcon competitions and triathlons.

Local athletes will line up against the Olympic gold medallist Alistair Brownlee in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon in March.

Adrenalin-fuelled adventure sports are also expected to gain a bigger following with a world bouldering championship scheduled this year, and a new climbing wall.
