Emirates Wildlife Society gives five schools the green flag

Five schools have been awarded Green Flag status by the Emirates Wildlife Society's Eco-Schools programme.

Thirty schools across the country signed up for the Eco-Schools Climate Initiative, which involved pupils coming up with innovative ideas to reduce electricity and water use.

Emirates Wildlife Society teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund and HSBC bank to run the programme, which operates in 52 countries and has been running in the UAE since 2010.

Those awarded Green Flag status achieved the greatest reductions.
