DUBAI // Emirates Road was partially closed today after a six-wheel lorry caught fire.
Dubai Police said that the road, previously known as the Dubai-bypass road, towards Abu Dhabi, was closed at around 1pm, shortly after the lorry caught fire near to Al Qudra interchange. A police spokesman said the fire was due to an "electrical failure" in the vehicle, but would not elaborate further.
"The fire is now extinguished and they are in the cooling process," said the spokesperson.
No injuries were reported.
Within two hours of the fire five of the road's six lanes had reopened.
