One traffic death in Abu Dhabi over the Eid holiday marred what was otherwise a calm period on the capital's roads.
Brigadier Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, the head of the traffic and patrols department, said there were very few accidents during Eid with no injuries reported other than the single fatality.
He said this marked a significant decrease from previous years, but did not give comparative figures. The brigadier said his department had maximised the number of patrols on city roads and motorways during the holiday period and noted there were fewer incidences of speeding.
He added that a number of campaigns launched in Ramadan continued throughout the holiday.
