Work begins on six schools in Al Ain

The Abu Dhabi Education Council says construction has already begun on six new schools spread across Al Ain.

ABU DHABI // Six schools are being built in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi Education Council has announced.

The state schools will create at least 7,000 spaces for pupils from nursery to Grade 12.

In Zakher area, Adec is building a Cycle 1 school for children aged 5 to 10 that will be able to accommodate 1,250 girls and boys in grades 1 to 5.

All of the new schools will include separate buildings for boys and girls, Adec said.

In Al Salamat and Neamah, Adec is constructing schools with nursery facilities for 1,410 girls and boys.

The new Al Mueijeai school will have space for 1,250 girls and boys in Grades 1 to 5 and a school will be built in Al Jimi for the same grades, although its capacity has yet to be confirmed.

The only girls-only school is being built in Al Yahr to accommodate 1,200 pupils from Grade 6 to Grade 12.

Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, director general of Adec, said the schools would be built to the highest standards, in line with the council's keenness to provide an attractive learning environment for children.

Abu Dhabi's New School Model places particular emphasis on improving school buildings and facilities in the emirates to support the new curriculum.

Work has begun on all six schools, but Adec did not provide expected completion dates.
