Ruler of Sharjah to fund American University of Sharjah expansion
The American University of Sharjah has been given approval for major expansion, including an eco-friendly dormitory for 170 women, a 1,000-space multi-storey car park and a sports arena and Olympic-standard running track.
The project was approved yesterday by the Ruler of Sharjah, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed, president of the university, who will fund the project.
Other changes will include improving access for students with disabilities.
The university chancellor, Dr Peter Heath, said the changes were necessary to cater for growing student numbers.
