Education Minister pays a visit to schools


The Minister of Education, Humaid al Qatami, visited several schools in Sharjah and Umm al Qaiwain yesterday and wished students well on the first day of classes, the state news agency WAM reported. Mr al Qatami congratulated staff and faculty as he stopped at several schools in Al Malaiha and Al Dhaid in Sharjah, and in Falaj al Mualla in Umm al Qaiwain, the state news agency, WAM, reported.

He also reminded education officials to keep a close watch on schools by inspecting them personally, and to report on their quality and progress. Also yesterday, the director general of the Abu Dhabi Educational Council (Adec) welcomed students back from their summer holidays. Mugheer al Khalili declared all schools in the emirate to be safe and equipped to handle cases of the H1N1 infection, WAM reported.

Mr al Khalili made his remarks after meeting with students and teachers in Al Shamkha region, where he was touring a number of schools. Mohammed al Dhahiri, the director of Adec, accompanied him on the tour and wished students and faculty a successful academic year. newsdesk@thenational.ae
