DUBAI // Teachers and other public sector workers were commended for their work yesterday.
Presenting achievement certificates to 136 teachers, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, told them: "You are reaping what you have sown."
Sheikh Mohammed congratulated 650 employees from 18 federal institutions for contributing to boosting the productivity of the federal Government, the state news agency Wam reported.
He said the efficiency of government performance was "the fruit of efforts of dedicated employees who are the pillars and foundation of the Government".
The award ceremony was the culmination of the government's Employee Performance System, a means of evaluating public sector workers to see if they are meeting an agreed set of targets.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, the Deputy Prime Minister, who also attended the ceremony, said the UAE had been focused on improving human resources since the time of the late Sheikh Zayed, and the country's leaders were now still working toward that goal.
Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Mansour and Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, also shared an iftar meal with the public sector workers.
