Dubai Police arrest suspected car thieves


Four men have been arrested on charges of stealing cars left unattended with the engine idling. The first two thefts occurred on March 31 and five more followed in two weeks. G H, from Pakistan, was arrested after a car chase from Dubai to Ajman. A police patrol watched as he stole a four-wheel-drive from a petrol station after its owner went into the station's shop, police said. They said G H led police to his accomplices, including two Pakistanis and an Arab man who bought the vehicles, four of which have been recovered. The case has been referred to public prosecution.

Illegal immigrants targeted in Sharjah

Sharjah officials have arrested 43 alleged illegal Asian immigrants in an industrial area. Maj Gen Nasser Al Minhali, a senior interior ministry official, said their campaign would continue to seek out immigration-law offenders. The 43 have been referred to prosecutors.

More decorum for UAE flag, please

Residents of the capital are being urged to make sure they keep their UAE national flags in a good condition and hoist them in a high position. Abu Dhabi Municipality made the appeal after a number of damaged UAE flags were noticed on rooftops in the emirate.
