Dubai passenger found with 250g marijuana in dictionaries

Dubai Customs have foiled an attempt to smuggle 250 grams of marijuana at Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3, nabbing an Asian taxi driver as he flew into the UAE with a box that contained the drugs.

When the box the driver was carrying was placed on the X-ray machine, customs agents spotted a cavity, which was then inspected manually. Clothing, a medicine bag and some food were found.

Customs agents also found two English dictionaries which contained a transparent plastic bag concealed in the middle. They found dark-coloured leaves in the plastic bag, which turned out to be marijuana.

The driver said the contents of the box were his, except for the dictionaries, which had been handed to him by a compatriot. These were to be delivered to a certain person residing in UAE. He said he was not aware that the dictionaries contained banned substances.
