DUBAI // A glitch that diverted the website of the Indian Consulate in Dubai to another site is not the result of hackers but a "maintenance issue", consular officials say.
The website is used by Indian expatriates in the emirate to apply for all sorts of consular services, including downloading forms pertaining to passports and visas.
A consular official said the down time was the result of "technical issues".
"It should be available by today evening or tomorrow morning. Our team is working on it. The problem is due to maintenance issue," said the official. "We cannot say that the website is hacked. It does not have any sensitive matter that could have prompted someone to hack it. The website mainly has information pertaining to passport and visa and community related stuff."
People can visit the website of the Indian Embassy, Abu Dhabi or that of the BLS International Passport and Visa Services to download the consular application forms in the absence of the Indian consulate website, the official said.
