Dubai customs busts drug smuggling bid

Dubai Customs foiled an attempt to smuggle Tramadol, heroin and opium into the country today.

A customs officer found the narcotics inside bags of shrimp and seeds on a ship trying to enter Al Hamriya Port.

There were 84 boxes of Tramadol hidden, along with 49 “rolls” of heroin containing 11.3 pure grams of the substance.

A bottle of a substance suspected to be opium, weighing 139 grams, was also found.

The drug smuggling bid was discovered during a routine inspection of a wooden ship from an Asian country.
