Dubai catches 37,000 drivers talking on their mobiles

Almost 37,000 motorists were caught talking on their mobile phones while driving during the first 10 months of this year, Dubai Police said.

The traffic department said the 36,726 fines handed out by the end of last month was a decrease from the 44,090 issued during the same period last year.

But police said the offence remained a major cause of fatal accidents.

Drivers caught talking on their mobiles without using a headset are fined Dh200 and given four black points.
