Dubai Bypass Road 23-car pile-up injures nine

DUBAI // Nine people have been injured today in an accident involving 23 vehicles on the Dubai Bypass Road, police said.

Several cars overturned in the accident, which occurred just after midday. Some of the vehicles were knocked under lorries.

Police said that low visibility due to a sandstorm was a contributing factor to the accident, but did not give an exact cause.

One person was seriously injured, while another two suffered what were described as "moderate injuries". The remaining injuries were described as "minor".
