Dubai arrests 250 illegal vendors in November


A government crackdown on illegal vendors in Dubai has led to the arrest of 250 people in the past month.

Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs worked together to detain 140 street vendors, 85 beggars, 23 street car washers, and two unlicensed butchers and fish cleaners.

Inspectors also confiscated a total of 250 counterfeit goods including garments, telephones, perfumes, shoes and accessories.

They also seized 272 boxes of illegal food and alcohol, and 2.2 tonnes of food unfit for consumption.
