Crashes in Abu Dhabi claim two lives in nine months


There were 65 motorcycle and quadbike crashes that left two dead and 10 critically injured between January 1 and September 30 this year, the traffic and patrols directorate at Abu Dhabi police reported yesterday.

Motorcyclists were charged for 1,327 offences during this time, including 337 for speeding, 95 for not wearing a helmet and 42 for driving against oncoming traffic.

Motorcycles can be confiscated if drivers are reckless, and Dh200 fines and four black points can be issued for driving without a helmet.
