Five female officers with Abu Dhabi Police have been trained in how to rescue passengers trapped inside vehicles.
They learnt how to free people using hydraulic, electric, pneumatic and manual equipment. They were also trained in vehicle stabilisation skills.
Maj Gen Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, director general of central operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said the force was keen to promote women officers' roles in various areas, including rescue. He said the five were the first on the new course.
They were trained in dealing with car accidents, rescues from vehicles and administering first aid.
Maj Gen Al Raisi noted that training topics and curriculum were up to par with the latest technologies used in rescue efforts worldwide.
