DUBAI // A man's homosexual relationship was uncovered by police after his dying partner told a passer-by that his lover had thrown him out of a fourth floor window.
AM, a 25-year-old Filipino, was spotted hanging from the window sill of a building behind Al Muraqqabat police station and calling for help on September 24.
Before help could arrive he lost his grip and fell to the ground. However, the Dubai Misdemeanour Court heard today that he did not die immediately and that while coping with the agony of his final moments he told a passer-by that PH, a 24-year-old from Belgium, had thrown him from the window.
The injured man was then taken to Rashid Hospital where he died shortly afterwards.
Under police questioning the Belgian denied killing the Filipino, saying that the deceased man had locked himself in the kitchen after becoming upset by an argument the pair had. He said the Filipino then threw himself out of the window. He admitted to police that they had been involved in a sexual relationship, but said that he had broken this relationship off.
Prosecutors decided there was not enough evidence to charge PH with murder and instead referred him to the misdemeanour court, which found him guilty of having consensual homosexual sex and sentenced him to a year in jail.
He will be deported after serving his jail term.
