Woman leapt out of moving car to escape rape, Abu Dhabi court hears

The chief justice described the woman as 'equal to 100 men' because she resisted her attackers fiercely in a bid to maintain her honour.

ABU DHABI // A woman threw herself out of a moving car to escape being raped by two men, the criminal court heard.

The woman, from Morocco, was waiting for a bus home to Al Ain when two men approached her claiming to be CID officers.

They escorted her to a car and then drove to a mountain area where they both attempted to rape her. However, she fought back, eventually jumping from the car to get away.

The men were later arrested on charges of attempted rape.

She told the court: "I resisted them so hard and suffered doing so. I want to show the world that Moroccan women won't give up their honour."

The chief justice described the woman as "equal to 100 men" because of her persistence.

A verdict will be announced at a future hearing.
