Woman grabbed during flirting attempt, court told
DUBAI // A man was convicted this morning of sexually assaulting a 40-year-old Chinese woman in front of her daughter.
Judge Hamad Abdul Latif of the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced MK, a Pakistani, to three months in prison followed by deportation.
The victim told prosecutors that when the suspect approached her about 10.30pm on October 16, 2010, she was walking with her 16-year-old daughter towards the Chinese Cluster in International City to meet friends for dinner, records show.
She said MK started flirting with her but she ignored him. At that point, she told prosecutors, he stretched his arm and felt her right thigh near her groin, she told prosecutors.
MK fled when she hit him with her handbag and screamed for help, records show.
She added that she and her daughter chased him until they found a security guard who caught the suspect.
During prosecution investigations, the suspect confessed, prosectors said.
