DUBAI // A maid, coerced by her employer into entertaining men, was gang-raped by five customers after her orange juice was spiked, a court heard today.
The maid, 24, said she was warned by the employer who brought her into the country that he would kill her children if she reported him to police.
The Pakistani woman told the Criminal Court she began to feel dizzy after being handed a juice at a party in a Karama hotel on October 10 last year.
She came to in a flat in International City with five men who took turns to rape her, she said. The men later took her passport and threw her out of the flat, dressed only in a pair of trousers.
Prosecutors told the court the maid had been brought to Dubai by the Pakistani J?A, 37. He promised to find her a job in a beauty salon. When she arrived at Dubai in September last year she was taken by a driver to a building in Bur Dubai where she met six other Pakistani women, she said.
The employer told her she would have to have sex with men, starting with him, or repay him her travel expenses, the court heard.
She said no, but agreed to entertain men at partiesbut not have sex with them. It was at one of these parties her drink was spiked, she said. Police charged one man with the rape, but four other suspects remain at large.
In court, her employer denied charges of human trafficking and providing prostitution.
S?K, 26, a tourist guide from India, denied a charge of rape.
The case was adjourned to May 1.
